The seismic wavefield is measured by the geophones or hydrophones. Their output is electrical signals. Geophones are used to monitor velocity, which consists of a magnetic core, surrounded by an electric coil where the magnetic core is attached to the housing and moves with it using delicate leaf springs; the coil is attached to the housing.
